Area Measurement

Guide for measuring area in different view modes

With Version 5.8.0 we’ve introduced the ability to measure areas.

Note: In Version 5.42.0 we brought a refreshed look and feel to the Measurement Panel, along with several functionality enhancements. This page has been updated to reflect the update.

Measurement Panel

The measurement button while be displayed in all View Modes, however may not be available in some areas (EG in some legacy projects).

  • Click the Measurement button (1) in the right-hand toolbar to open the panel.
  • The Measurement Panel (2) will display:
    • Available measurement tools
    • A list of saved measurements for your current view

Plan View

Note: Currently, area measurement is only available in Plan View
  • Select the Area option from the measurement tools.
  • Click to define the first point of the measurement.
  • Add additional points by clicking around the area you wish to measure.
  • Complete the measurement by clicking back on the first point (this point will highlight red).

Save Measurement

Once the area is defined, the Edit Measurement Panel (3) will appear. Here you can:

  • Save the measurement for future reference.
  • Control visibility: Set it as private (visible only to you) or public (shared with other users).
  • Customize details: Add or edit the name and description.
  • Link to Tags or Tasks for improved organization.
  • Search and navigate: Locate any measurement in the project and jump to it.

Additionally, if available, the real-world coordinate values (XYZ) for each corner will be displayed in the Edit panel.

Editing Area Measurements

You can easily adjust the defined area of a measurement to refine your work. Here’s how:

Add a New Point

  • Hover between two corners of the area.
  • A temporary intermediate point will appear.
  • Click and drag this point to a new location.
  • The new point will be added, and the area measurement will update in real time.

Remove a Point

  • Simply right-click on any point to remove it.

These tools make it simple to adjust your measurements as your project evolves.
