Export Point Cloud

Selecting an area to export

Users have the ability to crop and export a section of the point cloud within R2S.

To enable this, users must first be in the Point Cloud view (1). From there, the button to Crop & Export will be available in the side menu (2).

Once the tool is enabled, users will be presented with the Point Selection Tool. Use this to select roughly the middle of the area you want to export. A zoom window will appear to show you the point you are selecting (3).

When your point is selected, the user will then enter the editing screen. Here you can zoom in and out, and orbit around the section of the point cloud you have selected. Users can alter the position of the selected area by sliding the bars, or the size of the export area by adjusting the circular handles at the end of the bars.

Once you are happy with your selected area, click download. This will allow you to save the file to your computer.

Note: Currently, point clouds are downloaded as a .PLY file. More file formats will be available soon. Please note that point clouds in R2S are decimated from their original quality.
